Pinewoods Meals

The kitchen needed an entire page dedicated to the dishes they serve every day. Based on past camp experiences, I assumed I’d be eating canned green beans, Franz pre-sliced sandwich bread, and Dole fruit cups.
I was not expecting five star meals, including freshly made sourdough, when I arrived to camp. The camp even sells cookbooks of their recipes, scaled from industrial to home kitchens. That’s how seriously and professionally they take their role. The meals alone made me wish the camp ran programs year-round, so I could volunteer at least twice a year.

Where staff meals are served
The belltower on top of the dining hall does actually get used each meal! The first ring happens five minutes before a meal to let campers know to line up. Then a second time when a meal is being served.

Prep Work
Each meal is written on a board that hangs above the serving line. All the soups are vegetarian! And each main dish also has a vegan and gluten free version at a separate window.
